The pursuit of dreams & life goals - Indigo Awakes & Indigo Haunted

I am interested in your thoughts regarding the pursuit of dreams or life goals.  Is it important for you to follow your true desires whether they are creative, political, family orientated or career based or maybe your life quest is for happiness and contentment?

How many of you feel that you are following your true life path…and if not will you attempt to change things in your life or carry on as you are?

A friend once said to me that I live in a dream world as I view life in an alternative way to him. I responded: “Yes I do, thank God,” to which his brow puckered with confusion. He could not understand that there are endless ways of seeing and doing things in life.

I believe that the pursuit of our desires and dreams are what make us real and true. We all make a difference whilst on this earth. To what extent depends on our combined vision, actions and courage. The novel Indigo Awakes shows the reader that you don't ever have to lead a half life in the shadow of who you truly are...with focus and courage you can follow your true life path. It may not be an easy pursuit but who says easy is the better option.

I start my day with a short meditation containing positive affirmations. If I feel irritable or melancholic during the day I try to retrace my line of thought back to the cause. Often the origin will be a negative thought or a fear I have dwelt on.  The mood can be altered by replacing the negative with a positive angle and visualisation.

Intuition, the sixth sense…take notice and look for signs and synchronicities in your daily life….

However as her relationship with PC William MacLeod flourishes new unforeseen challenges emerge. Their lives are disrupted by the arrival of Finn Cuthbert the artistic unstable son of Wallace. Shortly after, Ella, the beautiful narcissistic cousin of William, also returns. Shocking revelations of William’s past come to light causing tensions in their relationship. Indigo’s spirituality is still in its infancy and soon it becomes apparent that her new way of life is under siege.

Haunted by a dark shadow; sinister eyes watch her. Anonymous hate mail arrives in the post and a terrified Indigo flees to Gabriel’s Healing Centre in the Lake District. It is imperative that  she strengthens her resilience against the negativity that threatens her. Returning to North Berwick she awakens to find the garage has been set on fire. Attacked, wounded and thrown from the cliffs by a dark masked figure Indigo survives by calling for angelic intervention. Death lilies arrive at her home as the stalker increases his vendetta against her. Discredited and terrorised Indigo is desperate to retain her spirituality and independence. Despite her efforts the past is spreading infection into her new life.  William’s home is burnt to the ground and evil reigns, climaxing in Indigo’s abduction. I really enjoyed this book. I felt sympathy for Indigo right from the start. I found it a very positive read and would recommend it to anyone with similar problems to Indigo. All the characters were well written and the descriptions of East Lothian make me want to visit there before too long. I look forward to the sequel

5.0 out of 5 stars a conscious spiritual journey, 27 Dec 2012

Indigo Awakes takes the reader on a spiritual journey. DeWinter's novel provides the inspiration to either take the journey yourself, or to renew the steps that you may have already taken in the past. I found the book a gentle nudge towards remembering how to recover the joy within. Indigo, the main character, takes conscious steps to rebuild her self-esteem and reclaim her life as her own. Set on the shores of Scotland, the book explores universal tools such as Reiki healing, solitude, travel, and the beauty of the natural world, as ways to reconnect. Whether you need to make changes in your life, or whether you already have, this story will remind you how to bring youth and meaning back into your world.

5.0 out of 5 stars lovely first novel, 23 Nov 2012

A love story with an underlying message about finding your core strength and taking inspiration from your spiritual experiences.

The plot line moves along well keeping you engaged throughout. The descriptions of the reiki experiences are great and would be a fantastic introduction, in novel form, to reiki for anyone unfamiliar with it. However those parts don't dominate the book, it's a good read, not preachy.

I'm looking forward to the sequel!

This is a must read book; you'll be gripped from the opening pages. We've all faced adversity and this beautifully written book shows us there's a reason for everyone of us to be optimistic.

To me, the best books have a character with which we can identifty and Indigo's problems will resonate with many. We've all felt that life is closing in and Indigo's journey is an inspirational tale which leaves you feeling it's within us all to make positive change.

This is an easy to read book, undoubtedly the best fiction I've read in 20 years!

Well I found the spelling and grammar OK but the story is lacklustre and downright boring. If you want inspiring then look at real people not a fictional book about abuse to spirituality. Overall a boring story and distinctly very average book.
